Countdown continues…

Now 7 days until moving day, 8 days until closing day!  Of course couldn’t make it without snow, damn.  Got hit with a big snow storm on Sunday, nearly 15” fell here in the Eau Claire area.  The roads and everything else was a mess, a lot of the roads still are snow covered and slippery.  Went out Monday and got the driveway snowplowed off, not without some humor I must add.  Girl car ran out of gas pulling into my drive, with moving and all didn’t have any gas left, so the neighbor ran her to her mom’s house to get a can of gas.  Her boyfriend brought her back, the can she got was all busted on top so the gas was pouring everywhere but in the tank.  I dumped that can into one that I had so she could get it in her tank.  Her boyfriend got his piece-o-crap van stuck in the snow bank, this guy was completely and utterly clueless!  Then the two them got into a big fight in driveway of god knows what or cares.  Went back to finish the sidewalks and the back window on my Trailblazer shattered into a thousand tiny pieces!!!  Wonderful!  Had to call Safelite Auto glass, they came out in under 2 hours and took the truck to their shop, cleaned up the glass and vacuumed  out the entire truck, replace the back window as good as new!  It’s amazing what you get for $848.00 luckily only a $100 deductible on insurance so that pretty much covered my insurance premiums for this year any how.

The packing continues and is almost to the point of nothing further can be done until actual moving day to finish up the odds and ends, take a part the bed, desk and such things.  Just left clothes and such in drawers in dressers and move the whole thing in one shot.  Take a shed load over on Friday and then load up 3 loads to take over on Saturday morning to put in the garage of the new house.  Keeping fingers crossed that will lighten the load enough to fit the rest into the 26’ U-Haul truck and the other 3 vehicles on actual moving day December 18th.  Just keep hoping that we have no more snow until after the 20th of December???  Returned Charter HD Cable box this afternoon so won’t have to deal with that next week as well.  Couple of doctors appointments tomorrow, loading vehicles on Friday, drive over on Saturday, unload and have Christmas diner in Unity.  Sunday and Monday final packing and prep for Tuesday!

Packing and Phone Calls!

Slowly but surely getting thing packed up and staged for moving, I’d call it organized chaos!  Almost down to the point of living out of boxes.  For some stuff I am, most of the kitchen cupboards are empty, doing my best to use up, clean up most of the food items so there will be not that much to move.  Probably a good thing to do any how, going through various items and checking expiration dates, I found Items that had passed their prime in 2010?  Needless to say they went straight in the trash.  Refrigerator condiments too many that have been hanging out for way to long.  Not only expired but with having to limit the amount of sodium intake these days much of those things are loaded with salt…out they go! Packed up most of the shed things; shovels, rakes, saws, etc. these are things that just don’t pack well!  Best you can do is put them in a garbage can and hope for the best.  A lot of this stuff will go in the 5’ x 10’ storage shed we got in Loyal, at least until we get moved in and organized, figure out where everything is going to go?  Quite sure there will be a number of items that will be going on a Thrift Sale next spring!  Kathy is going to take a car load back this weekend for the storage shed and then Gary & Kathy going to come next week with Gary truck & trailer and load up the rest of the shed stuff, mowers, weed whip, trimmer, power washer and what ever else they can get in the load to go to the shed, the tractor will have to be stored outside with a tarp for now.  Then Saturday the 15th we are going to Peggy place for Christmas  were going to load up vehicles with as much stuff as we can get to go in the garage at the new house.  Hopefully with that, come the 18th everything else will fit in the U-haul truck?  So that’s the plan, now just need it all to workout and for the weather to cooperate!

I forgot how many calls that need to be made when your moving, shutting off the gas, electric, cable, garbage, water filter at this place and then having everything turned on at the new place, water, sewer and garbage with the city, Direct TV for cable and VIASAT for the internet, WE Energy for Gas and Xcel for electric so at least the electric was able to do both with one phone call.  Cancel the home owners insurance here and get new insurance for the other house.  Spent a number of hours on the phone the past couple of days.  Do believe I got them all covered?

Mostly stuff from down stairs!  Packing...

I see there is now freezing rain, snow in the forecast for the next few days!  Just couldn’t hold out until the 20th of December could it?

Countdown…

Generally at this time of the year it would be the countdown to Christmas or the New Year, while these both still hold true this year too.  The main countdown at the moment is to closing and moving!  The target date is December 19th, this will hopefully workout for closing on Kane and Andrews?  U-haul scheduled for December 18th to load up everything.  Looking at getting a storage unit right now in either Loyal or Neilsville to get a head start on moving garage, and other items that are not necessarily needed right off.  We should be able to put stuff in the garage at the new house a week or so early.  It’s going to be one busy Holiday Season for 2012.  Right now the basement is almost empty, with the exception of the washer & dryer.  75% of everything else is packed and ready to go.  Garage is 1/2 full of well, everything mentioned that’s not in the house.  Have to do the usual shut offs at this place and turned on at the new place.  The 75 mile distance makes this a little more difficult than moving across town.  Also it’s December in Wisconsin!  Which means a blizzard can hit at any given moment!!!  Christmas less then a week away from the move dates…making all the rotating pieces all fall into the right slots at the right time…wow!

Lot’s of adjustments and changes…going from a town of 70k to 1k will have some things to adjust to there.  1st will be having Direct TV and a ISP carrier for Internet.  But it’s a nice place in a quiet town the pace is much slower.  I’m looking forward to getting settled in, just the craziness that must happen in order for that to all happen.  Keep your fingers crossed and little prayer certainly wouldn’t hurt!

So just in case I forget in all the hectic days to come…

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
