Summer Events

Been a while since my last post…keep busy doing things outside when it’s nice.  God only knows there is plenty of crappy weather here (4 – 6 months) that a person can sit inside and wish about being out!

Any ways, so what have I been up to you ask?  Good question…gardening, mowing, organizing the garage and shed and working on some wood working projects.  These are besides the normal wear and tear maintenance that occurs almost daily.

Put in a Flag pole, garden and  planted flowers, also added blocks and glued around the Peonies on either side of the sidewalk in the background.

Bought and  put up a Gazebo canopy on the back deck, as you can see. Also redid the garden, putting up a new fence, as well as making the garden a bit bigger from last year.

Planted a number of flower pots this year and a nice Herb garden too.  Been cleaning out and moving plants around in all of the flower gardens in the back and around the house.

IMG_20140703_151237Added  on to the flagstone and bought a fold up Picnic table…pictured above.

Organized both the Shed and Garage…moving things around, making things more convenient and easier to find.  Labeled everything that I could, so thing go back to where they belong.  Built a wall mount Tool holder…IMG_20140703_150718 This works beautifully as you can see!  Took  me about  6 hours to do from start to finish.

IMG_20140703_143623 Refinished my bench top.  The top was painted green, same as the front of  bench.  Scrapped, sanded  and scrubbed to clean it off and then re-finished.

Installed brick in the front, on both sides of the ramp going into the shed.  Don’t have to worry about weed whipping there any more.  Put a rain gutter on the one side of shed and have, just need to install rain gutter on the front and back of house.  As well as repair damaged gutter clips from the harsh winter on the north side of the house.

So that’s what I’ve been up to since the weather got nice…Time to get back to work on some projects for today.  Got to ‘Make hay, while the sun shines’

Happy Easter!

Today was a very nice day, temps in the 70’s most of the snow piles are gone now. Sun Had Easter dinner today, as Kathy has to work tomorrow night.   It was great, ham, potatoes, asparagus, deviled eggs…yum!  Worked up an appetite too!  Thumbs up

Bought set of CafĂ© doors to put in the hallway between the bathroom and living room.  Was going to stain them first, but the stain I had was FUBAR!  Not much to taking them off once I get a new can of stain. Turned out nice, even though kind of a pain to get both doors installed at the same height and spacing as of course the walls are not straight or even.  They are up now!

Spent time outside today as well…had to install clips on a cable wire that was not properly secured in the first place.  It was hanging down from the rain gutter.  That now is no longer and issue either.  Removed a 8’ section of rain gutter that was all but ripped off the house by ice this winter.  Need to pick up a section of gutter, cap and mounting brackets to reinstall.  There is another section that needs to have the mounting brackets repositioned and screwed back in.  The was a rough winter, cold and lots of ice.

Dog faceWith the arrival of spring and the snow going away, comes the fun task of cleaning up 6 months worth of dog crap from a yellow lab and a golden retriever.  8 five gallon pales later the yard is once again safe to walk!  Still need to rake the yard and finish cleaning out the various garden spots as well as put up fencing for the veggie garden.  Cut down the berry bushes and cut off a couple of shrubs that will be dug out.  Picked up two storm doors to put on the front door and the front porch door.  Projects for another day!

That about covers today…raining now, which is alright!  Have a Happy Easter. Bunny

2014 Cold Start…

This has been one long, cold, snowy Winter!!  I am very sick  and tired of this crap…

Here we are over 1/2 way through April still snow on the ground.  Looks like starting Saturday it is suppose to be in the 60’s and right on through next week.

The end of 2013 certainly did not go as I had expected to…started  of with a colonoscopy that 17 polyps were removed.  Two weeks later had to go to ER with gastric bleeding.  Was in ICU twice during my 10 day stay, 11 pints of blood, 3 more colonoscopy’s later I got to go home on New Years Eve!  Did I forget to mention dialysis?  That too began in the hospital and will now continue until they slam the oven door closed.  3 times a week, 4 hours a day with a 30 minute drive to the Center each way with all the other odds and ends averages 6 hours/day.  The only positive is all of the DaVita Marshfield staff are wonderful.  They are all caring, compassionate and understanding.  If there is a “silver lining” everyone there has my respect and admiration…

On  the plus side, after 2 years, 2 denials and heading to Judicial review.  The day before the review in Wausau the Judge approved my SS Disability, with back pay to November 2012.  Which this was only 6 months short of original filing in April of 2012.

Let’s see…what else?  In February on the way to dialysis a deer decided to commit suicide by use of my Trailblazer.  Had to replace the entire bumper, driver side fender and door.  All in all $3500 worth of damage.

Hopefully it starts to warm up soon, would like to clean up from the winter and be able to enjoy spring.  Guess that just remains to be seen.

Don’t get “ripped off” with out of this world ‘crap’
