Last Saturday of January 2016

Here we are the end of January 2016…already?  Man time flies, the one great thing is that Spring is on the horizon now.  Days are getting longer, the frigid temps should be a thing of the past here very shortly.  We’ve had a very mild winter as winters go.  But still I will not be content until the windows are open and I’m able to go outside without a jacket on!  Not that it shall make much of a difference to my routine, which will be much the same…but at least will be able to go out in the yard, spend some time in the garage workshop and get a little more of a break from the upstairs tower of dread (only kidding).   Any how’s today is overcast and in the 30’s, there is the good possibility of a winter storm hitting here early next week.  Might get to use the snow blower for the 2nd time this winter?
As you can see everything is still snow covered and a pretty bleak day thus far.
January was a rough month, always is!  I won’t even mention the whole holidays thing.  But water bill, property taxes, having to start over on insurance deductibles…well yippee kiyay!  Hopefully February will mellow out some and get things back to a normal pace!  One can only hope anyway?

Winter Arrives!

Winter has most certainly arrived... -5 to -15 below F for nighttime lows.  Just barely making it above zero for daytime highs.  Of course add in the 'wind' and your looking at -30F!  Hibernation time...nothing works quite right with these temps, just filling up your gas tank is a challenge.  On the bright side the days are slowly getting longer, the sun is getting warmer and there should only be about 2 months left before spring arrives!!!  From my point of view it can't get here quick enough.

Between getting ready for my dialysis treatments and actually doing the treatments, just been trying to get a few little things done.  Today was doing some vacuuming and dusting.  Got a heat vent that needs to be resized so it fits properly in the intended slot.  Keeping the humidifiers filled...sometimes seems like a full time job.  In between doing these things I need to gather supplies and get set up for treatment.

Well a little surprise today the SAK that I would normally use failed the conductivity test 3 times in a row (50L) only options is to drain it and use bags (5L) as it takes about 3 hours to drain and 5 hours to make a new SAK. Well let me tell you using the bags are no fun at all!  Much more of a pain to set up, why some people opt to use the bags all the time vs. having the Pureflow and using SAKs is beyond me, the Pureflow is sooooo much easier!

Welcome to Twenty-Sixteen!

Another year has come and gone and we’re two days into the new year!  2015 was fairly uneventful.  Completed a few projects around the house, which was a good thing.  The summer was pretty nice, was able to spend a good deal of time outdoors.  Early in the year tried PD but that did not work out at all for me.  Went through a 4 week training course on Home Hemodialysis.  I’m now on my 4th month of doing my treatments at home on my schedule and not someone else’s.  As a matter of fact that is what I’m currently doing. 4 hrs./day, 5 days a week.  Well at least I can sit here watch TV, listen to the radio and fart around with the computer…so that makes the time go much faster.
Did a little fishing this summer, no catching just fishing Can’t win .  That was pretty much it for last year, made it through the Holiday Season…however I’m glad it’s over and done with and time to move on to whatever this year shall bring forth.
them all.  Hopefully this year will be better
Well that’s about all I have for this post, just wanted to say hello and welcome to 2016!!
